Adaptation

Adaptation Poster

An incredibly original story about a man writing the screenplay for the movie you’re watching. I’m not a huge Nicholas Cage fan, but he was incredible, not to mention being backed by equally fantastic performances from Meryl Streep and Chris Cooper (and that guy from Office Space!!!). This is definately one of the most original works I’ve ever seen, and even though I knew what the premise was before I watched it, I was still surprised at every turn. However, I am curious as to if Susan Orlean (who wrote the book The Orchid Thief, which is the book Charlie Kaufman is adapting for his screenplay) was consulted heavily during the course of the writing, because the character in the movie that is her is not the most flattering depiction of someone. But all in all, I give it a solid 4.5. Charlie Kaufman, you never cease to amaze me.
