Hot Stove and Pro Bowl

Well Jacque Jones is a cub. I have no idea what to think about that. I kind of feel like it’s just another Burnitz kind of signing, but I don’t know Jones at all. I’ve heard a lot of people saying that he may have not done well for the Twins because he was carrying too much offensive weight for the team, where as he might be able excel on a team that already has a couple sluggers. We’ll see, but any thoughts in the meantime?

Johnny Damon is a Yankee. (pause) (sigh) Dammit. Well, guess I can’t root for him anymore. The least he could have done is come to the Cubs, I mean seriously. But the Yankees? Tim, what happened?

And now the pro bowl. The Bears send 6 guys, most since ’90, and 5 defensive players, most since ’85 (inciting more comparisons). I’ve heard a couple sports radio guys saying that there really are no major snubs this year, and I agree for the most part, but here’s my thoughts. I think it’s a little disappointing that Ogunleye didn’t make it for the Bears (even Alex Brown had to be close), but I suppose you can’t send all of the Bears D. And Vick? Come on. I’m so sick of the hype on him, and granted he is a very exciting player to watch, but he draws all of the focus internally and externally for the Falcons, and I wonder if that’s starting to hurt them. I don’t know, I just think putting Vick in instead of Brunell is kind of ridiculous.
