San Francisco Trip – Pre-Trip

Well I’m headed off to San Francisco in less than an hour, and I realized that this not only is my first real “business trip” but also it’s the first time I’ve really gone anywhere I’ve never been before by myself. For me being a type J, this is quite intimidating. I’m excited to see San Francisco, and hang out in a hotel and meet people and whatnot, but I get worried that if I don’t really have any plans lined up, I’m just going to sit in my hotel room all night. I’m very determined not to let that happen, but I’ve never really done something like this before, so I guess I can’t really predict what my reactions will be. But I know what I want them to be.

I’ve had a couple friends say “that’s the fun part of going somewhere new, is being by yourself” and I do not see how that can be the case, but I guess we’ll see. So if anyone wants to leave comments on things I should definitely do while in San Fran, please do. And I’ll update with pictures and such soon.

Ciao!

  1. Alcatraz is worth a visit, though I hear you need to get tickets pretty early. There’s also a point overlooking San Francisco called “Twin Peaks” that lets you see pretty much everything. It’s especially nice on a clear day. Not exactly sure how you’d get up there, though–there are roads, but if you don’t have a car I don’t know who you’d find to drive you.

It’s also nice to find your way to the Presidio and walk around near the Golden Gate. There’s a nice walking trail that goes under the bridge, and at the base of the bridge there’s a fort that you can take a tour of.

  2. you can go visit BALCO and get some performance enhancing drugs. We could be the first band to experiment with HGH musically.

  3. Limit the walking…it’s amazing how living on flat midwestern soil catches up to us when we’re in serious hills. That is, unless you plan on getting lower body in while you’re there! Then it’s perfect!!!

  4. Yeah no kidding. I’ve only been here two days, and I’ve eaten whatever
I’ve felt like, and I’ve lost 3 pounds since being here. I’m pretty
sure that’s all from walking. Whew. I don’t mind, though, I know it’s
good for me, but I don’t want to get any blisters, which I tend to get
    whenever I’m in “walking cities.”
